From cover:

Above Every Name examines the statement "Jesus is Lord" --the most basic of Christian confessions-- in the context of Jesus' lordship over social systems. The essays contained here lend Christians support and enlightenment in their struggle to be faithful to their Lord in and through their involvements within contemporary society and culture. This book, then, is about the "political" character of Christian faith. It deals with the Gospel precisely from the viewpoint of power--the power of systems, good and evil, graced and sinful--and the power of the Lord exercised within, over, through, and sometimes against various social systems.

Thomas E. Clarke, S.J. holds an S.T.D. from Gregorian University. He is a research associate at Woodstock Theological Center, and the author of New Pentecost or New Passion: The Direction of Religious Life Today (Paulist Press, 1974).
