Worldwide Woodstock

You may already know that the Woodstock Library provides us with one of the most impressive resources in the country regarding the history of theology, Catholicism, and the Society of Jesus.  But what you may not know is that over the last few years, Woodstock has developed one of the most accessible, powerful, and comprehensive resources for the future of theology and the Society's work.

Through the labor and foresight of former Woodstock fellow Thomas J. Reese, S.J., the Center has been far ahead of the curve when it comes to using the Internet for sharing information and collaborating with other people and institutions.  Since its launching in March of 1996, the number of people making use of the site has grown to remarkable and noteworthy highs.  In the last year alone, the web site recorded about 200,000 'hits' from visitors.  And this will only increase in the future, as we are pleased to announce that the site has been completely redesigned to allow for greater ease of navigation, more informative pictures and graphics, and expanded functionality.

Almost every aspect of the Center's work is now reflected on our site, and it has become an invaluable support tool for many of our programs.  For example, did you know that with one visit to the site, you can:

. Read any article that has appeared in the Woodstock Report over the last ten years.

. Read any article that has appeared in the Woodstock Report over the last ten years.

.  Look up information about the monthly meeting of the Woodstock Business Conference nearest you.

. Learn all about the Center's fellows-what they've done, where they've been, and what they're planning next.

. Read extensive excerpts from most of Woodstock's books, and order a copy for yourself.

. Explore links to other institutions doing work in ethics and theology, as well as links to official Jesuit and Catholic sites.

. Check the Preaching the Just Word schedule to see where the team will be throughout the year, and how to arrange a PJW retreat for your diocese.

. Learn about the Center's annual budget, assets, and current development goals.

. Find an announcement of the next Woodstock Forum as soon as it is released.

. Search the Woodstock Library's collection of rare and historical works of theology, using Georgetown University's on-line library system.

. Apply for an International Visiting Fellowship.

Exciting additions are being made all the time.  For example, another first was achieved in March, when a "webcast" of the Woodstock forum on "prison reform: restorative or retributive justice" allowed people around the world to watch the event on their personal computers.

So if you have never visited our web site, now is the perfect time to do so. The address is:
